Today, we address:

      1.  Why has this unusual (and incredibly unique) club been formed?   (-:
      2.  What are member benefits other than the virtual magic decoder ring and clubhouse?

Why was the Club formed?

First reason: to have FUN.  There are lots of places to find fear, despair and hopelessness.  To help balance the scales, let's play a little, and share some adventure.

Second reason: to hang with a community of like-minded (and open minded) people who want to make a difference, small or large.  

People who can:
*  imagine ways to improve themselves, their community, and/or planet (inner unicorn), and
*  take effective action while potentially surrounded by non-believers (inner kick-ass).  

In other words, people who are on a quest to create meaningful and fulfilling lives.

In her book A Simpler Way, Margaret Wheatley poses a question:

"If we are free to play, to experiment and discover, if we are free to fail, what might we create?"

This Kick-Ass Unicorn is deeply passionate about our collective gold mine of untapped potential and wants to have fun exploring the possibilities.

How Do I Become a Member and What are the Benefits?

Just decide you are a member of the Kick-Ass Unicorn Club.  

Here is a pledge to say, to make it official:  
Repeat after me  - "Yes!  I am a Kick-Ass Unicorn, damn it!"

Club members, please:
  1.  follow the blog, (and hopefully comment),
  2.  like the facebook page (unless you don't happen to be on facebook), and/or
  3.  share the blog and facebook page with friends.

Are You a Kick-Ass Unicorn? Take the Quiz...

What is it?:

     Unicorn:  a magical, mystical being given to flights of fancy and visions of a brighter future.  
     Kick-Ass:  strikingly or overwhelmingly powerful and effective. 

Kick-Ass Unicorns (K.A.U.) have their heads in the clouds and feet on the ground. They:

     * seek balance between being and doing, vision and action, 
     * focus on what's hopeful and help envision a positive future,
     * take effective action to improve themselves, their lives, homes, workplaces, planet, etc...

Generally, I'm close to the middle, but it depends on the day.  For instance:

100% unicorny:  driving my car while imagining really cool stuff I could do to improve the world, then noticing I've driven to a small town in Illinois, 30 minutes in the wrong direction.  Head was so in the clouds I did not notice I was driving by corn fields instead of buildings. 

100% kick-assy:  being so in the moment and in my body while playing a sport that I can't keep track of the score if my life depended on it.  This works in my opponent's favor.  My feet are firmly on the ground but my head is on vacation. 

50/50 balance:  those elusive moments when I fully inhabit my dreamy mind and my put-it-in-action body at the same time - like imagining a fun gathering place for people who can identify as Kick-Ass Unicorns then inviting you to join the club.  (-:

Why join this club?

This is a pop quiz:

a.  Do you ever feel angst about the way the world is vs. the way you know it could be?

b.  Is it sometimes challenging to balance the unicory and kick-assy parts of yourself?
